A Tale of Three Teams

Sunday, February 28, 2010.

Two buildings, separated by thousands of kilometers.  In one building, Canadians and Americans met as opposing teams, combating for what each saw as their ultimate goal.  In the other building, Canadians and Americans (and one Brit) met for the first time as a single team, determined to work together to meet their ultimate goal.

By evening the Canadian Men's Hockey Team had beaten the American Men's Team, taking home Olympic gold.

By the end of the evening, eight adults and eleven children had united and begun to form a new identity as Team Uruguay.

Two weeks later, hockey and Olympic gold hadn't crossed my mind in 14 days, but thoughts of Team had permeated every minute of every one of those days.

Two nations had prepared for years for a game that would be over in hours and quickly forgotten.  With the support and training of Avant Ministries, Team Uruguay is preparing for a five year work that will, through the power of the Holy Spirit, have an eternal impact!

My brain aches with the fullness. Time to sit, think, process doesn't just come, it must be made.

One thing at a time.

Uruguay. One month ago it was a name of a country on the globe. Now it is our future home!

Can it be that this is finally happening? Years of longing to follow a calling to obedient service in overseas ministry has led to this: Appointment as long-term missionaries with Avant Ministries, in Short-Cycle Church Planting in Uruguay, beginning in fall of 2010!
